Cape Town – Public Protector Thuli Madonsela was accused in Parliament on Wednesday of working hand in glove with the DA.

Madonsela spent more than three hours dodging insults and attacks from ANC MPs and the chairperson of the parliamentary committee on justice during her appearance in Parliament.

DA, ACDP and EFF MPs defended Madonsela in vain while the ANC accused her of undermining the justice system, wasting tax money, submitting a flawed report to Parliament and not having control over her office’s finances.

ANC MPs asked why the DA was defending Madonsela and said she acted like the DA.

ANC MP and committee chairperson Mathole Motshekga kept interrupting and criticising Madonsela.

A clearly upset Madonsela protested and asked the committee to give her office the respect it deserves as a constitutional institution, despite their problems with her as a person.

This is the third time Madonsela has been taken to task by the committee since she released her controversial Nkandla report.

Motshekga denied that the committee attacked Madonsela.

“We should not take MPs remarks as an attack. I don’t think that is right,” he said.
