Tech illiteracy or evasion – When cars and phones collide

Everyday when I pick up my kid from school I’m still amazed by the number of drivers using their cellphones. And while it’s hard to put an exact number on the accidents caused, the United States Highway Traffic Safety Administration reckons such behaviour increases the chances by 23%.

Just visit YouTube for some disturbing videos on how concentration is impaired by speaking and/or texting whilst driving.

But with the advancement in technologies such as Siri and Bluetooth (which is nothing new), surely having a cellphone in one’s hand while driving should be nullified?

So whilst reasons for doing so could be cost, tech illiteracy or a form of evasion, should such behaviour stand up in court?
