Bernard Swanepoel joins Impala Platinum board

Bernard Swanepoel is one of three newly elected directors of the Implats Board

The directorate of Impala Platinum have appointed three new directors to beef up oversight of the embattled group – most notably adding mining entrepreneur Bernard Swanepoel to the brains trust. Swanepoel built Harmony Gold into one of the world’s Top Five producers and recently completed the rejuvenation and sale of Village Main Reef. His appointment is interesting as until now Swanepoel has restricted his non-executive directorships to Sanlam and African Rainbow Minerals. – AH
