South Africa v France – all the stats you need to know

JOHANNESBURG — The Enforcer of Springbok rugby Bakkies Botha handed out the new-look Bok jerseys to the team for the first Test against France at Loftus, leaving the players with a message Botha was apt at carrying out: Let them feel the pain. MTN comes on board as the new sponsor, and, unsurprisingly the value of the sponsorship has not been revealed. You can bet it’s more than Vodacom was paying for its smaller endorsement. But, given the Springboks’ slump in reputation, it won’t be as much as ABSA was paying when they were the lead sponsor. For the fans’ sake, let’s hope the Boks will offer a better return on investment with the big yellow MTN blob on their jersey than when they sported the Blue Label Telecoms logo. And now for some trivia with which to impress your family and friends. – David O’Sullivan
