Reimagining for profit – or should ‘Snake’ be left to sleep?

Most cellphone fans would have played the game Snake, or been caught in a BBM war of words.

But since those days, both Nokia and Blackberry have been close to abandonment.

In its heyday Blackberry had 85 million subscribers worldwide while Nokia was bought and sold again within two years by Microsoft for a loss of more than $7 billion.

Both brands are on the comeback trail in South Africa, Nokia with the 3310 and the relaunch of Snake, and Blackberry with the KeyOne.

Money well spent, or should one let sleeping dogs lie?
