This weekend, Berkshire Hathaway shareholders descend on Omaha for the annual general meeting – and to listen to the wisdom of the company’s leaders Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger. Dozens of South Africans are among them, including the Kokkie Kooyman, taking his umpteenth group to the American Midwest.
Ahead of my first Berkshire Hathaway AGM 17 years ago, with Kokkie leading the part of course, veterans suggested I don’t delay because “Warren and Charlie won’t be around forever.” Now 92 and 99, respectively, the burger-munching, coke-swilling, peanut brittle-chomping duo have way outlived those predictions.
___STEADY_PAYWALL___While Buffett grants the occasional interview (especially if requested by his favourite, CNBC’s Becky Quick), Munger avoids them. So last Friday’s discussion at his home with Harriet Agnew and Eric Platt of the Financial Times (our UK partners) is a rare gem. The result of their chat is published here. Enjoy. I certainly did.
