Bobby Godsell becomes second to withdraw PPC directorate nomination

Respected South African business leader Bobby Godsell (62) this morning became the second director to withdraw his nomination to the PPC directorate. Godsell was the chairman of Eskom in 2008 and 2009 and is a commissioner on the National Planning Commission.

The company announced on the Stock Exchange New Service that the former CEO of Anglogold “has withdrawn his consent” and as a result will not be on the ballot list at the AGM on January 26. A week ago the company announced that another of the proposed directors, Ms Itumeleng Dlamini, also withdrew her consent.

PPC, whose board has been rocked by allegations of incompetence by departing CEO Ketso Gordhan, is the subject of an unsolicited offer to merge from rival Afrisam.
