Another one from the mailbox – this time, we’ve heard from Gordon in Port Shepstone, who’s got a little to say on the national electricity situation. He and his mates ruminated over the potentially apocalyptic effects that could klap us should the Eskom grid go down for good. Riots, food shortages, no more BizNews.. Not an attractive thought. – CH

Congratulations on the newsletter.
It is concise and easy and quick to read. Very informative. Well done.
In our local “parliament” Quenchers pub last night we debated at length the serious situation at Eskom.
If somehow the grid goes down, then it could take a few weeks to get it up again as none of our neighbours have the capacity to help jump start it again.
The scenario that could play out as a consequence is too horrific to contemplate.
Township riots spilling over into cities and towns. Cold storage inventories wasted and everyone life drastically changed. No TV, computers, newspapers, fuel at petrol stations.
Like an American horror movie.
Lets hope the brief the Eskom guys gave to the cabinet last Sunday will produce an appropriate response. But I doubt it.
Lets hope Eskom knows what it’s doing.
