Eskom has the capacity to meet the current electricity demand, it said on Monday.
“The power system is constrained but stable,” spokesman Khulu Phasiwe said.
“We have enough generator capacity to meet the demand.”
Phasiwe said if the power utility lost a unit or if demand increased, rolling power cuts would need to be implemented.
“But so far we are able to meet the demand.”
On Sunday, Eskom ended stage two rolling power cuts around 10pm.
It warned the power system would be under “severe pressure” over the coming week.
