Accountability Now media release
Cape Town – 18 April 2016: It is with great sadness that the trustees, directors, staff and friends of Accountability Now mark the passing of Professor Tim Dunne in a motor accident on the N1 in Bellville on 17 April 2016. Tim was our Chairman of Trustees, a good friend of the poor, a man of huge energy as well as unquestioned integrity. His sudden death leaves a large and painful gap in our lives and our work; his untimely passing is a tremendous shock to us all.
Tim was tirelessly relentless in his pursuit of the goals of Accountability Now, as he was in all things that he placed in the focus of his formidable intellect and gentle spirit. He will be greatly missed.
We sincerely hope that his “Hearing the Voice of the Poor” project will continue to honour his life in the future, adding to the positive and meaningful legacy he leaves. The project has the potential to help make the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations achievable and we hope that his international and local colleagues in the field of statistics will continue the work he championed for hearing the voice of the poor. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Dee and all of the Dunne Family.
