STAR board changes: Wendy Luhabe joins as independent non-exec director

STAR sens statement:

In accordance with paragraph 3.59(a) of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, the board of directors of the Company (“the Board”) wishes to advise that Ms. Wendy Luhabe (“Wendy”) has been appointed as an independent non-executive director of the board of STAR, with effect from 1 January 2019.

Wendy Luhabe started her career in marketing 37 years ago and worked in the cosmetics and automotive sectors, including working in Germany and the US. She graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1981 and currently has a portfolio of interests that include investments in education and infrastructure development. Wendy has been a pioneer in social entrepreneurship over the past 25 years and has been involved in human capital development, the economic empowerment of women and mentorship of younger generations. She pioneered the founding of WIPHOLD, WPEF and more recently, WINDE. Wendy is passionate about education, leadership, economic justice and mentorship. She has served as a non-executive director/chairperson of companies across diverse industries since 1992. She is a recipient of four Honorary Doctorates for her contribution to the empowerment of women in various sectors of the economy. Wendy was the founding Chancellor of the University of Johannesburg.
