From Discovery
Adrian Gore, CEO of Discovery, will receive theĀ Geneva Forum for Health Award at a ceremony during theĀ Forum for Health in Geneva, Switzerland on May 19.
Gore will be one of four recipients this year, and the first recipient of the award from the private sector since it was established in 2009. He will be presented with the award together with Aravind Eye Hospital in India; Dame Sally Davies, Chief Medical Office for the UK; and Professor Therese N’Dri Yoman, former Minister of Health for the Ivory Coast.
The Health Practice of McKinsey and Company arranges the Geneva Forum for Health each year during the World Health Assembly. The Forum is now in its eighth year, and is aimed at advancing the global dialogue on best practices in health systems by providing global leaders an opportunity to share their experiences and learn from successes.
Each year, the Geneva Forum for Health Award is hosted during the Forum for Health. The Award recognises advances and contributions in health systems that have improved or have the potential to fundamentally improve the health of people around the world.
Nominations for the Geneva Forum for Health Award are open to all leaders invited to the Forum. Recipients are decided by an independent panel, chaired by Professor Dr Julio Frenk, Dean of the Faculty at Harvard School of Public Health.
Past winners of the Geneva Forum for Health Award have included Dr Tore Godal, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Norway; Professor Jane Halton, former Secretary of the Department of Health & Aging in Australia; Dr Recep Akdag, former Minister of Health of Turkey; Dame Ruth Carnall, former CEO of the National Health System in England; Plan Nacer, National Maternal Health Program for the Argentinian Government as well as the Ethiopian Ministry of Health.
