Prevention beats cure; no need to get hit in the face

By Stuart Lowman

My colleague Felicity Duncan wrote this week that there are still people out there who refuse to believe in climate change.

For the denialists living in Johannesburg, a wintery day in October may have changed this thinking.

But what’s the true cost of waiting for something to hit you in the face before you believe it?

South Africa has a real example in State Capture (R100bn and counting), where prevention would have been better than the current cure. A drop in the ocean compared to the damage already caused by climate change.
