Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs has expressed excitement following his appointment as an assistant manager to newly appointed Louis Van Gaal.
Giggs took over on an interim basis following the sacking of David Moyes in the latter stages of the 2013/2014. United announced Van Gaal as United manager on a permanent basis on Monday afternoon.
In a statement from the club website, Giggs said: “I am thrilled to have the chance to serve as assistant manager. Louis van Gaal is a world-class coach and I know I will learn a lot about coaching from being able to observe and contribute at such close quarters. Manchester United has been a huge part of my life and I’m delighted to be able to continue that relationship in such a key role.”
Van Gaal will further be assisted by fellow Dutchman Frans Hoek and Marcel Bout as goalkeeper coach and assistant coach respectively.
