Earlier this week, during a discussion on CNBC Africa one of our guests made the point that South Africans are more engaged with their politics than most nations. It’s not just politics. Like me, you probably bite your lip hard to stop emotions overflowing every time South Africa sings Nkosi Sikelel iAfrika before a big game. We seem to possess a deep affection for our land, maybe because we’ve struggled so hard to get where we are. Which is probably why we expect so much from our leaders, and never shirk from telling them so. And like every good family, we may bicker and criticise each other, but heaven help a foreigner who points a finger. Perhaps that’s why I found tears of pride welling up when watching this wonderful SA Tourism video. It has gone viral on Youtube, aided no doubt by the large body of homesick expats (are there any other?). Have a watch. There’s a lift in it that will melt the heart of the coldest cynic. – AH

Nice video, @alechogg, but is it honest to leave this out? pic.twitter.com/T4mnhX60mE
