There was no immediate update on the murder investigation of Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa on Monday, Gauteng police said.
“There is no update. We will be having a media briefing today at 3pm at our Parktown offices in Johannesburg, and then the media will be briefed,” Brigadier Neville Malila said.
On Saturday, Malila said three people were questioned in connection with Meyiwa’s killing, and an identification parade would be held.
On Friday, Vosloorus resident Zenokuhle Mbatha, 25, appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court in connection with the killing after he was pointed out in an identity parade.
The National Prosecuting Authority said Mbatha was expected to apply for legal aid at his next appearance on November 11.
So far 13 people have been questioned in connection with the crime.
Meyiwa was shot dead last Sunday evening in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, while visiting his actress girlfriend Kelly Khumalo. Two men allegedly entered the house demanding cellphones. They shot him and fled.
Meyiwa was buried at the Heroes Acre cemetery in Chesterville, Durban, on Saturday.
