I was a little worried about the 6pm kickoff for last night’s Thursday “Noontime” webinar. The last time we did an evening webinar, three of four people on the event were temporarily kicked out as our Netflix-obsessed nation switched to movie download mode. Fortunately, apart from a little bit of early sound scratchiness, it went well last night with California-based Durbanite Shaun Tomson delivering – and then some – to 450 BizNews Community members in attendance.
67-year old Shaun’s contribution was themed around a life now into its third wave – the first took him to the world surfing championship; the second to a successful business career (surfwear brands Instinct and Solitude) and the third, after the death of 15-year old son Matthew, to serving others. An uplifting hour or so from an enthusiastic man who ascribed it to being a life-long learner. Herman, a self-made entrepreneur and role model to thousands, told Tim that his family conference agreed to fund a new political party only if the pre-launch response provided a mandate from half a million voters. Mashaba says that barrier was comfortably surpassed, with the People’s Dialogue enjoying support from 2,4-million South Africans. A force to be reckoned with.
