Recent events in Knysna highlight the dangers of motorsport; and indeed spectating at motorsport events. Rallying has become notoriously strict on its designated spectator points – a fact that stems from numerous fatalities in the 70’s and 80’s when spectators were allowed to go wherever they pleased, even if that meant standing in the middle of the road.
Here we see a typical scene; people watching from what they thought was a safe distance, elevated out of harms way on a grassy bank. Watch their fortunate escape as this spectacular crash unfolds on the Jolly Rally Valle d’Aosta.
