In company news; Miranda Mineral Holdings has issued a cautionary renewal in which the company has advised that it continues to be in talks which if successfully concluded could materially affect the company’s share price.
Sekunjalo Investments has also issued a cautionary renewal as the company has entered into negotiations regarding a material acquisition.
The Rand is trading at R11.60 to the Dollar, R13.46 to the Euro and R17.57 to the British Pound. In commodities Gold is trading at $1,291/oz., Platinum at $1,267/oz., and Brent Crude at $48.8/barrel.
Local mining production decreased by 0.4% y/y in November 2014 according to data compiled by Statssa. The largest negative growth rates were recorded for platinum group metals; diamonds, gold and copper.
German economic sentiment data showed institutional investors and analyst sentiment to have improved with an index reading of 48.4, well ahead of estimates which predicted an index reading of 40.1. Chinese 4th quarter GDP data came in marginally ahead of expectation with growth out of the region being recorded at 7.3%.
