Sasol set a target of cutting its emissions of climate-warming pollutants by 30% by 2030 and said it aims to have net-zero emissions by 2050.
“Key to SA’s success in meeting the targets and making progress beyond 2030 is reducing its reliance on coal,” says Bloomberg.
Sasol, a top emitter of greenhouse gases in SA, is working toward a 2030 target to reduce emissions from its operations by at least 10% from 2017 levels.
SA has ‘committed to improving its target for reducing its projected carbon emissions of the pollutants by 17% in 2025’, reports Bloomberg.
Sasol is a significant source of greenhouse gases yet it still benefits from a tax policy on emissions and fuel price regulation.
