This is Biznews’s last weekend as a “noughtie”. On Monday, we celebrate our first birthday. 4 August 2013 was a low key affair. One year later, we’ll be having a celebratory party. We hope you’ll join, albeit in spirit.
Milestones are important. They are an ideal opportunity to reflect, an asset employed too little by too few. Henry Singleton of Teledyne, rated by some economic historians as the best capital allocator ever, famously set aside time each day just to think. So does his latter day successor Warren Buffett. A man who prides himself on a daily schedule without any appointments.
In all the progress we’ve made this past year, one is over-riding. Our team tap-dances to work. Every day. We promised ourselves to stay away from people who churn our stomach. And have. And we’ve not forgotten the wise man’s advice that if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.
It’s been fun. Thanks for coming along for the ride.
