In “lockup” to ensure the Biznews Community gets all the Budget details first

By Alec Hogg

As you read this, I’ll be tucking into the detail of South Africa’s 2018 National Budget from inside Treasury’s “lock up” – a sealed off section of Parliament where journalists get to prepare reports ahead of public release.

The fruits of my labours will be available on Biznews just after 2pm today. So for all the info on how you’ll be affected, the full speech, new tax tables and our famous “Budget in a Nutshell”, be sure to access the site at 2pm or (if the EFF decides to delay matters again) immediately after the finmin starts his address.

Apart from crunching the details, content of the Budget will also be a key part of my report-back in London next week. These events are an opportunity to share the most dramatic three weeks in the young democracy’s history with London-based members of the Biznews community.

If you have friends or relatives in the UK who would benefit from an eye witness account of SA’s exciting changes, please ask them to drop a note to [email protected] for details of the three late afternoon events. As ever there’s a significant discount for Biznews Premium members.
