We all want to be someone when we grow up. For me it’s American author and financial journalist Michael Lewis, whose books are masterpieces in how to make complex issues both interesting and understandable.
Lewis is so good that his books are not just bestsellers, they’re invariably turned into movies which attract Hollywood’s biggest names. All of Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale and Steve Carell star in The Big Short, where Lewis tells how a handful of trading pros foresaw the 2008 Global Financial Crisis at a time compatriots sailed unaware into the meltdown.
The man on whom Carell’s character in The Big Short is based, Wall Street investment banker Steve Eisman, is now warning about another bubble about to burst – Elon Musk’s hyped-up electric car manufacturer Tesla. He features in the latest episode of my Rational Perspective podcast. Even if you don’t own the shares, it’s worth a listen.
