The post Davos Roadshow:

I’ll be in Switzerland next week for the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting. As has been the tradition in recent years, will be on a roadshow in SA next month to give a report back to clients of our long-time partners BrightRock and Standard Bank Online Share Trading.

This year has Standard Bank has kindle allocated us a (very) limited number of tickets to their events.

Below is a list of the dates and cities. If you want to come along, please secure your tickets soonest. And be sure to come over for a chat after the event.

  • Durban – Thursday 14th February – click here for tickets.
  • Maritzburg – Friday 15th February (breakfast) – click here for tickets.
  • Cape Town – Monday 18th February – click here for tickets.
  • Johannesburg – Thursday 21st February – click here for tickets.

Don’t be confused by the price being quoted in Sterling – we have to because of Eventbrite’s structure (they don’t yet allow Rands). Tickets to the presentations cost R250 with a discount for Biznews Premium members.

Webinars for Premium members:

We’ve also got a number of webinars coming up. They are free but restricted to Biznews Premium members. One needs to register beforehand (for those not in the club – another reason to join). A couple of innovations this year: a special post-Davos webinar and our first ever Budget Day webinar.

Here’s what you can sign up for:

Monday 28 January 12:30 SA time – Update on the Biznews Global Share portfolio.

Our policy of taking a deep breath has paid off handsomely with the portfolio enjoying the full benefit of January’s strong rebound after the post September US stock market meltdown. But we also need to now make some structural changes as we prepare for 2019. If you’re a Premium member, click here to register for this webinar.

Tuesday 29 January 12:30 SA time – Alec Hogg’s report back on Davos 2019

This is my 16th visit to the week-long gathering of the world’s most powerful where South Africa’s delegation is its strongest ever. I’ll be keeping my eyes and ears open to spot the big trends that will impact the world – and investment markets – in the 12 months ahead and thereafter. In this special webinar to be held just three days after getting back from the Alps, apart from my own thoughts I’ll also be calling on Orbis’s UK investment chief Dan Brocklebank and WEF executive Oliver Cann to help answer your questions. If you’re a Premium member, click here to register for this webinar.

Wednesday 20 February, 6pm SA time – SA Budget night special webinar

A first for us: an inside track to the National Budget for Biznews Premium members. As per usual, I’ll be in Parliament’s “lockup” from 6am on the Budget Day, working through all the details and readying our content for delivery on Biznews when Finance Minister Tito Mboweni starts to speak. This year I’ll spend the Budget Day afternoon preparing for an interactive webinar, sharing everything you need to know. It will start at 6pm on Budget Night, exclusively for Biznews Premium subscribers. If you’re a Premium member, click here to register for this webinar.

And for Londoners – Michael Charton returns in March

Our Biznews London Forum returns to the prestigious Institute of Directors on Pall Mall where we host inimitable Michael Charton on March 18. Michael will be delivering his masterful presentation “My Father’s Coat” which got him a lengthy standing on his London debut in November. Thanks to the sponsorship of Orbis Investments (the sister company of SA’s Allan Gray) we have been able to keep the tickets affordable and as always there is a discount for Biznews Premium members, But the tickets are going fast so please book soon.

Thanks for your support. And remember that if you hit a snag anywhere, we’re waiting to help – email [email protected].
