At the top of my permanent to-do list is an update of my 2016 book, “How to Invest Like Warren Buffett,” which has sold out all of the 10,000 copies printed, making it a ‘best-seller’ in SA terms (bookshop owners tell me there are a mere 100,000 book readers in our young democracy — maybe that’s why we’re in such trouble).
I mention this as both a nudge to self, and justification for publication of the piece from our partners at the FT. Buffett is 93, but despite his advanced years, remains a beacon for many asset managers. So if the Oracle of Omaha is continuing to build his already record cashpile, it’s worth paying attention.
___STEADY_PAYWALL___An interesting aside is that the only shares Buffett seems to find attractive right now are those of his own company. For many years, he studiously avoided share buy-backs. Recently, Berkshire has been accelerating its repurchases. A message in that for existing shareholders – and those seeking a safe home for their cash.
