Play the fact, not the speculation.

It’s not the first time the media, and the South African Rand for that matter, has got a bee in its bonnet around President Jacob Zuma stepping down.

This weekend, the ANC NEC is meeting with this very question ‘apparently’ top of the agenda.

And while certain votes may be signaling a change in the wind, I distinctly remember a similar situation just over a year back.

It was a Friday night, and President Zuma was expected to step down, but in the end merely apologised for ‘violating the Constitution’.

So, whilst the markets rally, and our currency strengthens, beware to play the speculation, because the facts remain, with Zuma in tow or not, South Africa still has a big hole to dig itself out of… no man is an island.
