Boardroom Talk: Timeless wisdom from Marcus Aurelius reminding us how to live a full life

Three months ago at a weekend gathering, I spent a wonderful hour chatting to a friend of a friend. During the conversation he shared how, because of his cancer medication, he was unable to join me at the buffet. He needed to fast a little longer. 

Apart from that comment, made almost in passing, my new companion appeared in fine fettle. He was smart, really funny, and full of interesting stories. Yesterday, I attended his memorial service. One of the best I've ever been to. But it made me sad – for the family he left behind, and not being able to know him better.
