First ABSA, now ANZ – Stafford Masie’s Thumbzup in breakthrough Aussie deal

SA technology innovator Stafford Masie has taken another giant leap in signing a partnership with major Australian bank ANZ which will be marketing his mobile phone-based credit card readers to its 400 000 small business clients. Four months ago, SA’s largest retail bank ABSA began rolling out what it dubbed the “Pebble”, developed and built in SA by Masie’s Thumbzup. This morning SA time I caught up with Masie and ANZ’s GM: Small Business, Kate Gibson on the line from Melbourne for first hand news on what ANZ is calling its Fast Pay Card Reader. With more international deals in gestation, (this one took over two years to secure) right now, the world is Masie’s oyster. – AH
