Johannesburg – In a startling revelation, former ANC MP, Vytjie Mentor, said she allegedly told high-ranking government figures, including a minister, days after she was offered a ministry by the Gupta family.

In a loaded interview with Power 98.7, Mentor said she allegedly told a cabinet member and a member of Parliament’s committee on intelligence. “There is a cabinet member that I told. There is a former member of the Parliament’s intelligence committee that I told. At that time we were serving together in the committee, and there is another person,” she said.

Mentor said when it was time, she would “put it to their conscience. I did not tell them this year, I told them immediately”, she said.

Mentor allegedly told her colleague at the intelligence portfolio committee the following day, and made an appointment with the member of cabinet.

“I told the one in the intelligence [committee] the very next day and I made an appointment with the cabinet minister… I told her over a cup of coffee a week or 10 days down the line,” she said.

Mentor later revealed that she had also informed the then Public Protector (PP) Lawrence Mushwana while they were in Kimberly.

“The first PP Mushwana, if we go and dig out the records. When I go out to speak [in public] it is after I had spoken many many times privately within the structures and with comrades face-to-face,” she said.

Mentor said she believed the ANC should be its first critic and not relinquish that responsibility to the opposition.

On Monday night Mentor said in a Facebook post that she had been offered a job by the Gupta. – News24
