Johannesburg – Former deputy minister Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge is another ANC member who has called on President Jacob Zuma to resign.
Eyewitness News reported on Friday that Madlala-Routledge encouraged her former colleagues and current Cabinet ministers to call for him to step down. She felt Zuma’s apology to the nation last week was “disrespectful of our intelligence”.

“If you go back to his speeches you can see that he had not shown that he is going to respect the findings of the Public Protector. I think it’s important for him to say he’s sorry but that is not enough.”
The calls for Zuma to resign have increased following the Constitutional Court’s ruling that he failed to uphold the Constitution when he did not comply with Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s remedial action regarding payment for the non-security upgrades to his Nkandla homestead.
The call has come from opposition parties, civil society, some ANC members and party veterans, such as Ahmed Kathrada, former finance minister Trevor Manuel, former ANC deputy secretary general Cheryl Carolus and uMkhonto weSizwe veteran Mavuso Msimang.
ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe has asked ANC members, veterans and organisations to stop “howling” at the party regarding the issue but to engage the party. –Â News24
