Hedderwick has joined the firm as chief operating officer, starting on Monday. Joffe is CEO, while former Nedbank chief operator officer Graham Dempster is its chairperson.

Long4Life is an investment holding company, which is seeking superior returns on investments with a lifestyle focus. “These could include businesses in the beauty, outdoor, sport, retirement villages, and restaurants, among other sectors,” it said in a statement this year.

The firm welcomed Hedderwick on Monday in a statement, saying that he “brings a wealth of valued experience and expertise”.

After Hedderwick stepped down as chief executive at Famous Brands, he focused on acquisitions for the firm. It resulted in the company buying various agricultural and production units to create a vertically integrated model for the company.

Following its listing on the JSE to raise R2bn, Long4Life has seen its share rise quickly and is now valued at R2.23bn. Its share price was almost 1% higher at R5.50 at the close of business on Friday.

Joffe stepped down as Bidcorp chairperson at the end of March 2017 to start Long4life. He invested R100m of his own money when he listed the firm. – Fin24
