The R16.5bn chemicals group AECI issued a media statement this morning confirming that a Dawn Raid by authorities from the Competition Commission took place at its business, Akulu Marchon, yesterday. In the statement, attributed to Dean Murray, AECI Specialty Chemicals Executive and Chairman of Akulu Marchon, the company's says that "in line with AECI's Dawn Raid Policy, full cooperation was and will continue to be extended to the authorities in the information gathering phase of their investigations."

Akulu Marchon (Akulu) supplies chemical raw materials and value-adding services to the cosmetics, toiletry and detergent industries. Products include petroleum jelly and white mineral oils for the local ethnic skin and hair care markets, locally-produced and imported specialty surfactants for household and personal care products and chemical specialties for the personal care and cosmetic industries.
