Eskom to widen power outages
South Africa's power utility Eskom will extend rolling blackouts on Wednesday from 1200 GMT due to a shortage in generating capacity, the state-owned company said on its official Twitter account.
Eskom said that it was moving its controlled outages from "Stage One" to "Stage Two," which means it has to reduce 2,000 megawatts (MW) from the grid from 1,000 MW earlier as it struggles to meet its daily consumption of about 30,000 MW.
