PPI slows to 7.2% in August

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) – South Africa's producer price inflation slowed more than expected to 7.2 percent year-on-year in August, from 8 percent in July, the statistics office said on Thursday.

Economists had expected PPI to slow to 7.7 percent year-on-year.

On a month-on-month basis PPI was at 0.0 percent from 0.5 percent and against market expectations for 0.4 percent.

Stats S.A. releases five industry-specific producer price indices, with final manufactured goods representing the headline number.
