SA petrol price to rise by 96c a litre from Wednesday

JOHANNESBURG, Feb 27 (Reuters) – The retail price of 95-grade petrol in South Africa will rise by 96 cents or 9.3 percent a litre from next Wednesday, while wholesale diesel will increase nearly 8 percent, the government said on Friday.

"The main reason for the fuel price increases is the average increase in the price of crude oil during the period under review compared to the previous period. The other reason is the depreciation of the rand against the U.S. dollar," it said in a statement.
