Sibanye Gold not keen on Marula site – it’s just not ‘meaningful’
South Africa’s Sibanye Gold, which says it wants to expand into platinum, said on Thursday it was not interested in Impala Platinum’s Marula mine.
The strikes at Implats' Marula mines marred the company's profits, and name.
Implats earlier announced on Thursday announced its intention to sell Marula, which produced 78,500 ounces if platinum in its 2014 financial year, as part of an effort to build cash.
"It is probably too small for our purposes," said Sibanye spokesman James Wellsted.
