South Africa Q3 business confidence rises to 46 points: RMB/BER

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) – South Africa's quarterly business confidence index increased by five index points to 46 in the third quarter of the year, indicating some satisfaction about business conditions in Africa's largest economy.

The Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) survey, conducted by the Bureau for Economic Research (BER), showed improvement in all sectors except for new vehicle trade.

"The third quarter increase in the RMB/BER BCI points to a further improvement in economic growth where the second half of the year should be better than the first," said Ettienne le Roux, an economist at Rand Merchant Bank.
