As you might imagine, I was sad when DA chair Helen Zille told me of a diary clash which forces her to miss BNC#4 in the Drakensberg. Especially as Helen was an enthusiastic participant at BNC#3 and has been spoiling for a fight with the conference’s opening keynote speaker RW Johnson.
Helen has a must-do commitment in the UK. But we’re making plans to link her in for Johnson’s address to offer a right of reply (her insistence – she expects RW to have a go at her and the DA). She’ll promises to be back at BNC#5 in March 2023 for a debate with Trevor Ncube.
The good news is confirmation came through yesterday that Zille’s predecessor as the DA chair, Athol Trollip, has agreed to take her spot as the Fireside Chat guest on the Wednesday evening at BNC#4. His contribution promises to be fascinating for numerous reasons.
___STEADY_PAYWALL___Trollip recently left the DA for ActionSA, where he heads its growing Eastern Cape operation. He’s one of the big fish attracted by Herman Mashaba as the former businessman lays ambitious plans for the 2024 National Election. Trollip’s insights will be riveting. Providing another reason to join us at the conference, where a few hotel rooms have been freed up after early bookers had to cancel. Click here for details.
