Clear evidence phones give rats cancer – The Wall Street Journal
DUBLIN – Cellphone radiation has been a popular whipping boy on alternative health forums. A range of health problems from infertility to brain tumours have been ascribed to the radiation emitted by cellphones and cellular towers. I remember reading years ago of a case in South Africa where a family living near a cell tower in Johannesburg had reportedly turned blue (this was in YOU magazine, so I took it with a grain of salt). Scientists have been working to determine exactly what, if any, health effects are possible from cellphone radiation exposure. Studies on this type of thing take time – it took decades for scientists to conclusively show that smoking causes cancer, and there are still plenty of conspiracy theorists (usually smokers) who say it isn't so. Nevertheless, we are starting to see results from long-term studies on the subject. In the study reported below, researchers say that have "clear evidence" that cellphone radiation causes tumours on the hearts of male rats. This may not sound like much, but for this type of research, this is a very strong finding. As a mobile phone user, I sincerely hope that cellphones aren't the next cigarettes.  – Felicity Duncan

(The Wall Street Journal) U.S. researchers found "clear evidence" that cellphone radiation exposure can cause cancerous heart tumours in male rats. It is still unclear what the final conclusions of their two-decades-long study of the health impact on rodents mean for humans.
