I love driving my Peugeot 3008 so have been excited about our extended road trip for this week's break in my old KZN stamping ground. This mini-donga in the middle of a high volume national road on the Midlands Meander took out the left hand tyres – front and back. With the roads in such disrepair, little wonder most in the district only drive 4x4s..What happened next, however, was a pleasant surprise. Literally a minute after finding a safe spot for the immobile vehicle, my cell phone rang. "Are you OK?," the voice asked, "this is Tankiso from Discovery Insure – we see there has been a sudden impact on your vehicle. How can I help you?" She then directed us to Discovery's partner Tiger Wheel & Tyre in the KZN capital where Ashley sourced a hard-to-find Michelin. Together with the spare, we were on our way back to the 'Berg the same afternoon. There are pockets of excellence in South Africa.
