Warren Buffett is one of the world's most closely watched investors. Recently the Berkshire Hathaway CEO surprised his followers by investing in a gold mining company, though gold has been popular as a safe-haven asset this year. In May Berkshire Hathaway posted a loss of around $50 billion net loss in the first quarter — the biggest loss ever for the company, CNN said at the time.
