The grocery delivery rush is coming β The Wall Street Journal
Having grocery shopping delivered to your front door is nothing new in South Africa, as the likes of Thrupps, Pick 'n Pay and others have been driving it about for a while yet. But if one looks at what's happening in the rest of the world, it might be an area of growth. Many may have looked at Amazon's Whole Foods acquisition quizzically, but given the company's logistic nature, it looks to be the fresh produce supply chain, that will allow Amazon to jump onto this growing trend. But how quickly the growth will arrive in South Africa is anyone's guess, but with everyone's time becoming more of a premium, such a competitive rush could change family shopping dynamics. β Stuart Lowman
