The CEO found himself in the hot seat recently, when Twitter began blocking users from sharing links to stories about Hunter Biden.

If you use Twitter, please read the story below from our partners at the Wall Street Journal. For me it's personal because at the height of Bell Pottinger's power, the Gupta-funded manipulators took deliberate aim at Biznews and, indeed, myself. Among their tactics was the creation of an account on Twitter to mirror my own, complete with the same profile picture and descriptions. The only difference was the fake account's handle – @allechogg – rather than the authentic @alechogg. Using this deception, they lured a BizNews community member active on Twitter and staged an inappropriate Direct Message conversation…….copying the worst parts of it and spreading them through robots and hands-on staff. As intended, the "news" was picked up and retweeted by a high profile media personality, then spread like a Free State veldfire in winter. Those flames were only doused hours later when I managed to contact the retweeter and explained the source. The point of repeating that September 2016 saga here is how, despite providing hard the evidence, Twitter initially refused to block the @allechogg account, judging it to be a "parody" and thus allowable. At one point I even wondered whether there was a Bell Pottinger plant inside the organisation. The story below from our partners at the Wall Street Journal from today's print edition, explains a great deal about such abuse is able to occur. Culture begins at the top. There's a fine line between delegation and abdication. – Alec Hogg
