Covid-19 and lockdown has put many of us under financial and emotional stress. There's the strain of keeping your job while thousands of others lose theirs. Then, there's the tension caused by constantly being in your partner's space. Oh, and let's not forget trying to homeschool our children and worrying about our ageing parents' health. Even in the most compatible relationships we need time away from one another. So, it's no wonder that divorce rates seem to be increasing. In South Africa, since level four of the lockdown, there's been a 20% increase in divorce applications. China and Sri Lanka also reported an increase, citing the stress of Covid and quarantine as contributing factors. However, experts tell couples to hold on: even if you feel like your marriage is on the rocks, we are dealing with extraordinary circumstances. – Claire Badenhorst
