DUBLIN – As worries mount about the negative externalities of social media – from political violence to depression – more and more people are saying, "Why not just quit?" But walking away from social media isn't as easy as hitting a button. Many people are heavily reliant to their social media accounts for everything from news to job hunting, and cutting the cord is tough. Personally, I think that an easier option is moderating the amount of time you spend on these platforms. I find it best to use tools like Apple's Screen Time to limit my usage, to turn off notifications, and to only look at social media during dedicated times (on the train, for example). But if you're looking for a more radical solution, this piece from The Wall Street Journal has some tips to help you go entirely cold turkey. – Felicity Duncan

Americans may not agree on much, but here's one point of consensus: Social media isn't entirely wonderful. Facebook has its privacy scandals, and who would join Twitter for the camaraderie?
