Premium: CR back in global spotlight – now ‘sofagate’ is fuelling row over his wealth
Our partners at the Financial Times of London publish the most influential newspaper in Europe, perhaps the world. So when the title decides to allocate a chunk of its columns to SA's political leader – as it has done this morning – we pay attention.
The FT's piece republished below provides a useful insight into the prism through which the rest of the world views SA right now. And it's pretty dark.
Mercifully, there is nothing in the title (yet) about an even more shocking story of the ANC refusing to pay a Newcastle businessman for more than 30 000 posters he was commissioned to produce for the party ahead of the 2019 National Election. Or of Germany's Strabag which baled while building a KZN bridge because of a 30% 'commission' demanded by the construction mafia.
