We've had a lot of major car recalls this year, but Subaru's latest takes the cake. The Japanese automaker is recalling 400,000 cars around the world, including some 80,000 cars that were branded as Toyota but manufactured by Subaru. The Subaru recall dwarfs Tesla's 123,000 car recall earlier this year.

Vehicle recalls are a very expensive undertaking. As we all learned in the movie Fight Club, they usually only happen when the manufacturer is concerned that the fault is so severe that it could lead to a lot of accidents and massive lawsuits. In this case, a fault in the cars' valve springs could cause the car to stall mid-drive, with potentially serious consequences. Whatever you're driving, this recall is a good reminder to check your VIN and make sure that your car isn't a part of any of this year's many vehicle recalls.
