Oracle – the American computer technology corporation – has won a bid for the US operations of TikTok, the popular social media app that allows users to view and share videos. The new deal with Oracle includes a "commitment to establish TikTok as a global company" with its headquarters in the United States, a move which "would mean 20,000 new jobs." This move follows concerns from the Trump administration, who were concerned that the Chinese social media app was collecting data from American users and passing it on to the Chinese government. – Jarryd Neves
