While it's natural for us to be enthusiastic about any positive Covid-19 news, whether it's a new treatment option or a possible vaccine, we also need to be realistic about the ongoing need to slow the spread of the virus. This cheap and widely prescribed steroid was found to reduce deaths among the sickest Covid-19 patients by around 20-30%. Naturally, the news generated a great deal of excitement – one of our biggest challenges in the fight against Covid-19 has been our lack of effective treatment options.
