Funnelling his wealth to charity, Warren Buffett donates $3.4bn of Berkshire stock – The Wall Street Journal
Warren Buffett has donated shares valued at $3.4 billion to five foundations, marking another round in his pledge to donate most of his wealth to charities and philanthropic endeavours.
JOHANNESBURG — Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, all within the top five of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, have committed to giving their children relatively modest inheritances, and giving almost all of their wealth to charitable causes. It's not so much a race to zero, but all have consistently contributed to their charity of choice. Buffett is the most recent contributor, donating shares valued at $3.4 billion to five foundations. He intends to have all his Berkshire Hathaway shares given to charity 10 years after his estate is settled. – Stuart Lowman
